Tokyo – August 24th 2018 – Space BD won it’s first contract for small satellite deployment services
from the “Kibo” Japanese Experiment Module on the International Space Station (ISS) from a
Japanese startup, Warpspace Inc. Selected as the commercial service provider※ by Japan
Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in May 29th 2018, Space BD won the contract in a short
period of less than three months.

Developing and selling small satellites, Warpspace Inc. is a space start-up spun-off from Tsukuba
University aiming to create “A world where everyone can enjoy space”. Space BD is responsible for
the safety assessment, flight integration, launch, and finally deployment of the satellite from the ISS.
By developing business through cooperation of space start-ups, the space industry will be stimulated
and will contribute to the growth of the industry as a whole (Japanese Space Industry Vision 2030).
