Tokyo—Space BD, a leading Japanese space startup, announces our first “Space Business Game Training” for the National University of Singapore (NUS) (NUS website: https://nus.edu.sg/).

This training, the first offered to an overseas client, was conducted in English for nearly 30 students from various programs who visited Japan as part of the NUS College program. This marks the first time Space BD’s educational program has been implemented for university students from outside of Japan.

 

During the training, students learned about the entire process of space business development, from pitching to investors and presenting business plans to banks for funding, to using that capital for hiring, procuring materials, and executing processes from satellite manufacturing to operation. The training involved team formation, selection of team leaders, making immediate decisions, and experiencing the process of delegating authority. This process mirrors the journey Space BD has undergone since its inception as a startup company seven years ago. Participants gained practical business experience in the uncharted territory of space.

 

Feedback from the participating students included:

• “Although it was challenging, it was just right, and I enjoyed the training immensely. I believe this should be commercialized further so that more people can experience it.”
• “There were many opportunities for interaction, and I was able to deepen my understanding of the space business and satellite operators through practical experience.”

 

Space BD continuously updates its content based on participant feedback to provide better training programs. Moving forward, we will continue to offer practical learning experiences that help participants grow into globally active professionals.

 

■About the Space Venture Management Business Game Training

Since developing the venture management and business management training game themed around “space” in October 2022, we have provided this program in various contexts, including corporate training, entrepreneurship education, and recruitment assessment. The program has been refined through evaluations of its effectiveness, offering practical experiences in teamwork, conflict management, and decision-making in uncertain and high-risk environments.
